1. Preheat oven to 425°F.

2. In a large bowl, combine mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, lemon juice, and cayenne.

3. Add crab, bell pepper, and onion and fold until evenly mixed. Transfer mixture to a small baking dish and place on a rimmed baking sheet.

4. In a small bowl, combine breadcrumbs and oil. Sprinkle over crab mixture.

5. Bake 30 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Serve hot.

DIRE CRABBY PATTIES

To scale this beastly meal down to a more manageable sandwich, you can get it to hold together by increasing the breadcrumbs to ½ cup and adding them to the crab mixture along with a large egg. Form the mixture into patties and bake on a parchment paper–lined baking sheet. They’ll make excellent—if spiky and predatory—sandwiches.
